A leading Financial Services organisation continue to experience strong positive organic growth and will look to continue to expand through further acquisitions where this is viable.

An opportunity has now arisen for a Java Developer to join their team.
This role is for someone who loves to code. This is a stable company that is growing rapidly so someone with a drive to help shape an award-winning organisation. Continuous improvement on the system is core of this role. Financial services experience would be a bonus. Any industry Java related qualifications a bonus.
Due to recent investment the organisation are developing their system throughout the whole company and basically writing a new piece of software so are now looking for people who love coding and want to get heavily involved. It is a continuous development rewrite to update systems, include any manual tasks that can be automated, bug fixes and including any regulatory changes as and when required.
The Team
The successful candidate will join the team in Bolton. The team design, develop and maintain Java-based solutions to support the ever growing and complex needs of the business. The company’s Java product is integral and critical to all areas of the business and since the company is going through rapid expansion in both headcount and new business this is an exciting time for a Java Developer to join the team whilst the company evolve their software platform to be scalable, resilient and in line with industry best-practices. The team generally follow iterative, Agile and Kanban based project management principles.
Purpose of the Role / Main duties
Working collaboratively across software development and business functions to design, develop, deliver and maintain high quality software solutions for the business
To be effective during all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, estimating, implementation, testing, delivery, training and knowledge share) in accordance with current industry best-practice.
To work in line with company and team objectives, ensuring adherence to relevant internal procedures and FCA regulations.
To continually evaluate and refine standards and best-practices in the Java Development Team
To represent the team and contribute in meetings with both peers and non-technical stakeholders

Skills Required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent Core Java skills
Strong understanding of OOD and Java design patterns
Source code management e.g. Git or similar
SQL and Relational databases e.g. MySQL or similar
Java Swing UI development a bonus
Java development environments e.g. NetBeans or similar
Full understanding of the software development lifecycle
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong team player
Educated to degree level in Computer Science (or related)
Any industry Java related qualifications a bonus
Minimum 1 year of Core Java commercial experience
Providing end user support
Financial services experience a bonus.
Minimum 1 year of core Java commercial experience
Degree in Computer Science (or related). If no degree will consider candidates with min 3 years core Java commercial experience
SQL and Relational databases e.g MySQL or similar
Excellent written and verbal communication skillsThere is opportunity for overtime when projects run over. This is paid at time and a half on weekdays and double time on weekends. This role offers great career progression and a comprehensive benefits package.
